The 990 acres set aside, by KRPF, to make the Panorama Vista Preserve is used to teach our youth about nature. Volunteers dedicate there time during the science camp to teach kids about different aspects of nature and potential fields that they can study in the future.
In Hart Park a Goal is to restore and protect the historical features. One feature is the peacock adobe, for the restoration they will need $50,000 and have raised $20,000.
Beginning in 1974 the Kern River Parkway Foundation started by planting one tree. The foundation has since assisted in planting 15,000, built 6 parks, multiple trails and recreational areas. They purchased 990 acres to create the Panorama Vista Preserve below Bakersfield College. It all started with one tree.
